When you become a PMP
68Imagine yourself, the PMP
You've just passed the PMP exam! You call up friends and family to let them know the great news. Most of them didn't know that project managers had an industry certification, but now they do!
You'll need new business cards printed up. Your name was "First Last" but now its "First Last, PMP".
Be sure to update your email signature! Let everyone know you are now a PMI-certified Project Management Professional.
LinkedIn and other networking sites need an update....to your name, and you can join groups like the PMI PMP certified group on LinkedIn.
Next, your resume. It's good to keep it updated, and now you can add the PMP as a certification to your name, and add the PMP designation to the end of your title. This way you make sure your resume is NOT filtered out when they decide to start with only looking at PMPs for that job you apply to in the future.
Last but not least, think of how you have improved as a project manager! You didn't just memorize the questions, you actually learned something using that self-study program a friend told you about. The instructor went through the concepts, inputs, tools & techniques, and outputs in detail, and added lots of examples so that you really learned something that will stick with you. You are already using some of the knowledge you picked up while studying to manage projects better at work.
Congratulations! You are a PMI-certified PMP!
